Using Aldus' software to produce the magazine, our editorial goal was to educate our readers on the principles around publishing. This specific article was a fascinating story about how colors are forecast years in advance so that the appearance of a new color is coordinated from cars to clothing.

Researchers looked at the economy, environmental trends and past color cycles to determine what colors would best reflect public sensibility. This article was published in 1992, just as we were just entering the environmentally friendly colors of terra cotta reds and forest greens, leaving the power colors of the 1980s behind.

The strengths of this piece are its strong use of hierarchy and the use of color to support the purpose of the story. What I would do differently: tighter leading in the first paragraph and a more appropriate car visual. The 1950s Cadillac has an aesthetic appeal but is not as contextually relevant as perhaps a 1993 Saab.
